Can't get chick to eat

I can't get a chick to eat an the mother has been no help, the chick hatched with curled toes so we had to make it shoes which the mother did not like an has left the nest with the other chicks, the chick was to weak too be with the others so iv been raising it for the past couple days an it sleeps under the hen at night but now I can't get it to eat at all is there any way to help it eat? It's become even weaker and I don't know how to help

I force fed one of my chicks with food mixed with water. It saved his life. I only had to do it for like three days and he finally started eating on his own.
