Can't Have Ducks?

Hi all!

My boyfriend and I are a bit confused about the laws surrounding keeping a duck as a pet. Because the ducks are our pets and we have no intention of eating them or selling their eggs, they are strictly our pets, is it still not legal for us to keep them? We're confused because our city law reads as follows:

6.12.010 Prohibited animals. A. No person, firm, corporation, partnership, or limited liability
company shall keep, feed, or breed any fur bearing animal, game animal, or game bird as defined in sec.
29.001(30), (36) and (39), Wisconsin Statutes.
B. No person, firm, or corporation shall keep, feed, or breed any member of the feline family, other
than domestic cats.
C. No person, firm, or corporation shall keep, feed, or breed any domestic fowl.

But, after looking up the technical definition of "fowl", I found the word to mean "a gallinaceous bird kept chiefly for its eggs and flesh."

Has anyone ever run into this? I'd appreciate any sort of help! Thanks

Ducks are fowl. Waterfowl specifically but your laws state no fowl, so no ducks. Sorry. You could try petitioning to have the laws changed but that will take time and you will need to bring it up at city hall meeting.

Time to move out of the city, then you can have all kinds of ducks!
