I do hope the little one makes it.

Update: the one I thought wasn't going to make it passed this afternoon. I tried to use warm water and a paper towel to open her eyes and did manage to get one open. But, she wouldn't drink at all. She wouldn't open her beak for anything. I knew she wouldn't make it.

The one in the pic is doing really well. She is by herself and is perking up nicely. I have worked on her eye three times and it is looking a lot better. I used warm water and a paper towel and it appears to be helping. She started fighting me the second time I did it, so I know she's feeling better. She's eating and drinking and pooping like she should.

I'm so excited about the EEs! I always end up with EEs that look the same as adults. Not that it's bad, but I really wanted to find a white one someday. I'm such a sucker.

I just LOVE their fluffy cheeks!!!

You might try soaking a cotton ball in some warm tea and use it on the chicks eyes. I read this on another forum; tried it on my bunny who came from the feed store with crusty stuff around her eyes. It seems to have worked.

My DH brought home 3 EE's at my request...the clerks picked them out (he had no idea what to chose). I have two white and one chipmunk that will be 4 weeks old this week. Sweet Cheeks always flies up on the edge of brooder while I'm filling their feeder and waterer...she wants to be held close...she does lil soft chirps the whole time and then goes to sleep in my hand. She and the SLW's are a hoot...they love to be held and will line up on the water bottle or edge of the brooder waiting their turn to be held by mama.

Never realized I could love a chicken!

When I was growing up they were just another farm animal that provided a much needed food source (my Dad was farming during the 50's drought!).

The one with the eye problem is doing well. I've used warm water and a paper towel to try to soften up the scab over her eye. I'm a little scared about what could be underneath it. I can see the eyeball moving around when she tries to look at something. It bulges out and I know it's not a healthy eye, but I can't stand the scab.

About only getting three...

I have 17 pullets that are 6 weeks old and I really didn't need anymore chicks in the first place. I had to stop sometime.
