A ya long time ago my aunt had guinea fowl, probably 100 plus roming out all over. My uncle was going to raise calves and someone said the guinea will give the calves something, so I was just wondering is this true???

I am ordering 50 pullets starting over ad my flock is getting close to 3 years . Anyway I thought about getting 5 or 6 guineas. I had guineas when I was 7, I got 7 since I was that age. Anyway after they were free ranging, one by one they would disappear, didn't know what was getting them until my mom saw the neighbors dog run off with one, by that time I only had 1 left, my dad had words with the neighbor ,and we gave the last one to some people who had guineas. I just hope that doesn't happen again. After that the guys wife wad nice to me and got me into clover buds, where she helped out.

I will probably have them penned up

But anyway your thoughts, also I was thinking about just getting the regular pearl but are the other ones good also? Do they mix okay?

I live on a beef farm, and ive never had a problem with calves dying due to my guineas yet alone all my other birds(geese, ducks, turkeys, peafowl). With the colors, yes they all get along its just the color that makes them different. A guinea is a guinea.. Hope this helps and best of luck with guineas!

I found out they can get a type of coccidia emeria that calves and guineas share.

I am going to start with 5, as I don't have enough room in the chicken pen for everyone to be comfortable. It's been so long, I was 7 so... I will be okay. Another poultry learning experience.;):D
