I did one with the help of a vet; he anesthetized. It took a long time! The testes were so friable they kept falling apart, and we had a heck of a time getting them out. I finally resorted to a long "handled" cotton swab (after they were severed) and I had great surgical tools. Would love to hear your EXACT procedure. How much did yours crow afterwards? That's all I'm interested in--being able to help city-dwellers keep their boys. Vets aren't interested around here.I caponized chickens 50 years ago, so you can figure out that I kind of over the hill. It's quite easy to do, but you have to be very carfull, because they lay right next to an artery. One tiny, real tiny, misscut, and it you better have the scalding water ready, they die quick. If you don't get every tiny bit, they will remain un-caponized. good luck
