I have a ton of Care Fresh small animal bedding left over from my guinea pigs. Carefresh is recycled wood pulp that is compressed together in clumpy bits. It is very absorbant but is not finely shredded like the wood litter. Can I use this? It sure would be great since I already have some.

I think it would be good to use, seeing as its basically just recycled paper and stuff.

It's very safe and un toxic..I don't see why you couldn't use it

care Fresh is kind of chunky in texture, It is what the pet stores use to bed hamsters, guinea pigs, rats and the like. It's got pieces about the size of a quarter(US) and smaller.

Is it like Woody Pet - hard pellets that expand to soft fluff ? My concern if it is pellets is the chicks getting their feet between the pellets, tripping, being hard on the feet and eating the fluff as it expands. I may be way off here. I just can't picture what it is...

Slystr, did the care fresh bedding work for you? I'm thinking of using it in my brooder in the spring. It worked real well when I had my ball python and I know it works well for small animal bedding.

Hey Peeps, I used the search feature to try and find an answer instead of posting a whole 'nother question thread...aren't you proud of me?

I use the other brand soft-sorbent by Kaytee. I really like it and it smells good. I don't have to use very much of it either which is nice.
