Cassowaries

Casuarias, what struck me first is how HEALTHY these birds look. Their feathers are sleek and glossy. (Not like certain common and grubby emus that I might mention . . . ) On the humourous side, they look like colourful emus in bulky overcoats. On the technical side, in all seriousness, could you take and post a good shot of the spike on the foot? (Though it is visible in one photo.)

Sianara, the shells go for $100 each. I have a buyer that gets them as fast as I have them available, but I will save them for someone that wants one. Mark, the pic I have up is the best one of the spike on that particular females foot. I have cut the spikes off now because it's breeding season, and this female with the long spike killed her mate last breeding season...so im not risking that again. I saved one of her spikes, that I will post a pic of below. She still has 2 inches of it on her foot, so in all it was around 7 inches.

First, drink a few beers for courage lol, then rig up some tree limb cutters with some 5 ft long handles, and go in there and ease up and trail the bird till the right moment, reach out and snap it off.
