Since everyone here seems to be knowledgeable on dog food ( thanks to all I will be changing brands from Science Diet ).

I was wondering if anyone is as knowledgeable about cat food? Right now we feed science diet for indoor cats but also give a wet food as a treat( brands on that vary) .

We run a permanent rescue all paid for by ourselves. Right now we stand at seven cats, all but one came from rescue and where very close to being put down. We nurse them back to health then let them live a happy life.

So are there any suggestions on cat food?

oh yeah, we have eight dogs, all but one was a rescue.

I feed "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul LITE" to our 6 cats. It's about $24 for 22 lbs. We do the same thing you do with the wet food, but never "9 Lives" because our vet hates that stuff. If you check out the ingredients on the Chicken Soup, I think you'll find it to be pretty impressive. The really high-end brands (Eukanuba, Evo, etc) contain way too much fat, according to my vet. Our vet also stopped using the "Max Cat" brand at the hospital - I forget why, but I'll ask my DD - she works there as a vet assistant (as did I, 15 yrs ago!).

All 8 of my cats (all rescues with sorted stories) and any rescues we foster, are on Natural Balance, less stink in the box for us:

Doesn't work for all cats though we've had the occasional cat with allergies or some such but we've been happy with it since we found it 9 years ago.

ETA, we also supplement this with raw chicken, many don't like that idea but we are ok with it.
