Cats and 6 week chicks

They should be large enough now to not be in much peril. I've had cats find their way into my brooder and take off 1-2 week old chickens. But at 6 weeks I wouldn't worry.

I can't exactly remember how old my chick was, as I'm trying to think back about 15 years, but I did have a horrible incident once with a chick and a cat. It was getting to a teenage size, however.
Anyway, it was one of their first days out playing in the yard, and my cat charged the chicks. They all scattered, flapping their wings, and my cat got one of them right along her side and left a horrible gaping wound. It was under her wing where there isn't much feather protection. The poor little thing went into shock and bled out right away. It was a freak thing, I know, but I'm totally paranoid now and I don't let my chickens and cats together until the chickens have a good shield of fethers. I'm the proverbial mother hen!
