Why not just spray them with a hose? Most cats hate water.

Our former neighbor hated cats, which, of course, caused ours to march over to his house every day.

We encouraged him to turn the hose on them. It worked.

I was acclaimating my two 5 week old BR to their coop with a piece of hardware cloth covering the clean out door so they could see out. When it started to get dark they started a distress call. Luckily we were sitting out watching the chicks as a cat jumped up and tried to get them. He/she managed to pull the hardware cloth down slightly but I gave a blood curldling scream and the cat took off. The chicks didn't even know what happened, but I would like to stop cats coming into my yard, spraying and using my garden for their toilet.
Trapping them and spraying them with water sounds like a great deterant. How do you trap them? What kind of trap, bait etc?
