We have had our baby chicks out in the yard for about two weeks now. During the day they go in an area my hubby set up for them with plastic netting type fence and metal poles. This is just a temporary area for them while we plan their everyday forever home. In the morning my Daughter and I move them from the garage to the day area and leave them till evening.
Last night we were sitting at the dinner table and I heard the chicks making some serious noise so I look out the window and guess what I saw!!! Three cats! Two of my chicks somehow got out of the day area and one cat was batting them around while two others watched and waited. I saw that and turned to my two cattle dogs and said "Go get em' girls!" I let my girls out and they chased the cats away. Now, I want you to know, my dogs are good girls, I called them off the cats as soon as the cats left the property. But I bet you those cats will think again about coming and messing with my chicks.
Lilly, who Ive been worried about, went over to the chicks and laid down next to the day area.
Darn Cats! LOL It was kind of fun watching my girls protect their birds. (BTW I wouldnt put it past them to eat my birds so Im aware and cautious)
