Warning! Do NOT be a dumba$$ like me!
With good intentions we put a piece of deck in the chicken yard and propped it up for a shaded lean-to.

I walk out there today, after not having checked on the chickens for several hours, and what do I find????? A pullet with her leg stuck between the boards and obviously she had been that way for a while! The leg looked twisted but when I gentley pulled her free the leg looked and felt normal. I put her in the back-up chicken hosptial aka/cat carrier. I think she'll be fine.
I'm so mad because I already have another pullet in the dog carrier because she was limping and I didn't know why. She is also thin and so I'm thinking disease, but she had been eating and her poo is plentiful and normal so I decided she must have gotten hurt somehow...WELL NOW I KNOW HOW! Lord knows how long she must have struggled before getting free. Poor chicky.
Lesson learned....again.
BAD chicken owner. BAD!!!!!
