cayenne pepper?

Has anyone tried using cayenne pepper around their enclosed run and coop to keep raccoons and other critters out?

Would maybe work once. Rain will wash it out. Eventually they will get used to it. If it bothers them more than one or two attempts, I would be surprised. This time of year, most things that eat chickens have babies to feed. They are much more brave this time of year.

Very good point about the "feeding babies" comment. Can't blame those who need to, but am still going to do everything to protect my girls!
