Cayuga eggs are black?

I got a duck egg today, our first of the season, and it had this dark gray haze all over it. i scrubbed it off, since it seemed to be already scraped off on one end. what should I do in the future? just leave it?

The next a few will not be as dark. It gradually lightens up, at least in the case of my Cayuga.

Beaker's eggs have become lighter. If she hasn't laid an egg in a couple of days, the next egg is a little bit darker than usual.

I noticed that if she doesn't leave the egg alone immediately after laying it (in other words, doesn't let the bloom dry), she leaves scratched on it made from her beak.
