We got 12 mallards from our local feed store right before Easter and I noticed that one of my "mallards" was all black except the breast is yellow. Are there all black mallards? Here's a picture

Can you take a picture where the light isn't in the way also one of it's back. By the way from what I understand Cayuga's are suppost to be completely black or gray.

That is most certainly a Black Swedish duckling. How do I know? I've got one that looked just like it when she was littler.

Very cute! Yeah, I'm 100% positive that is a Black Swedish duck.
Do they require anything different than mallards? Do they fly or are they a domestic duck? I have no idea anything about black swedish ducks as I thought I was getting mallards :)

They are totally domestic. My little Black Swedish girl is the one that always greets me when I go out to say hi to everyone and she also makes the most eye contact. She's got the coolest personality out of my 4 ducks.

I recall seeing a chart that says they don't fly, but if they do you can clip their wings with no pain to them and (hopefully) you. As far as I know they don't need any special care, I've had mine with her 3 sisters who are all different breeds and she seems to have no problem at all.

Here's a few pictures of her for your reference:

Well that is good to know! I am certainly glad that we got 2 Pekins also! So I'm assuming that the black swedish are going to get a bit bigger than my mallards?
