Has anyone here ever had experience with this combination? I've heard that the results are different depending on how they are crossed. If the drake is Cayuga, the ducklings are always black, but if the drake is Khaki Campbell, they can be mixed or be traditional Khaki colors.

I have a pure Cayuga drake, a pure Cayuga hen, and a pure Khaki Campbell hen. Problem is, I can't tell the eggs apart. Cayugas will often lay grey or even black eggs, but none of my hens have ever done that. So will the ducklings of the Campbell look the same as the Cayuga's?

For anyone who has helped me previously, I've mentioned not knowing if my Cayuga will lay, but she has! After moving here, we don't have a house to put them in at night, and it's hard to catch them and pen them up with as large as the pond is, but I managed it. I think they've been laying their eggs in the water, because I certainly can't find them. I put them in their new pen last night and found two eggs this morning! I'm a bit disappointed that the one in the incubator has to be thrown out due to it being a double-yolk, but now I can wait until I have a full batch.

How many days should I collect eggs before putting them in the incubator?

i have heard 10 days max on chicken eggs, but i just put some chicken eggs in the bator that i have been collecting for a month or more. so we will see if they hatch.

My female is half cayuga half white campbell. She is white with some grey feathers speckled over her wings and neck. She has a black beak and dark legs with brown eyes. She isn't laying yet though. Do you know when she should start? My white campbell girl stated laying at 7 months old at the start of winter and has just kept going.

I know this is a very old thread lol, but I have a mix between a Cayuga drake and khaki campbell hen. I expected it to be all black, but surprisingly it has a mix. The feathers are each black with a light brown outline. They're basically like khaki campbell feathers except the dark brown part is black. I just thought it was interesting and that this would be the perfect thread to share it on XD
