CC&R but no HOA to enforce?

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is going well so far and full of lovely birds to spend time with =)

We are in the process of purchasing a house and I made sure to look up the city's code in regards to chickens, which allows me to have 3 hens as long as they are enclosed in a secure coop, which is no problem.

However I recently received word that the area has CC&Rs that don't allow any poultry. This being said, I do not have an HOA and I don't know if there is any entity to even enforce these CC&Rs, not to mention that they were written originally in 1950.

Now I've met my neighbors-to-be and they don't seem like the type who would have a problem, and my chickens won't be roaming around they will be enclosed in clean coop and run. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences similar and could tell me their stories. I worry that I will be pissing of my new neighbors and/or they will report me for this?

The entire yard is fenced in, so they wouldn't even be an eyesore(if that was a problem to some.)

Thanks!

I've never had that problem... my neighbors just wouldn't stand for roos.
If you do still get some, you should probably get quite breeds though. (Just bribe your neighbors with the thought of fresh eggs and give them a couple :D)
