Cross posted on the Cream Legbar hybrid thread...

Hello, we had a reddish EE rooster in with a pure CCL hen and got one chipmunk chick with no head spot and one gold chick; I thought that they were both pullets. They are now 4.5 weeks old and I see that the chipmunk chick is getting in feathers that appear barred, but I’m not used to seeing it in red... Is this barring? If so, is it absolutely definitely a cockerel? First pic is EE rooster dad, next two pics are of gold baby, last two pics are of chipmunk baby, Thanks!

Based on the comb alone I'm going to say it's male. Whether it is barred or not you should know soon, but sometimes I have birds that look like they will be one pattern (barred, spangled, etc) and then it disappears as more feathers come in.
well, we won’t make any decisions until we know for sure whether it’s a cockerel or pullet. We’ve been trying so hard not to name or get attached to any that could be cockerels, but with no head spot, I though we were safe to get attached to this one.:he

Both appear to be Easter Egger pullets.
I’ll take that! Clearly I’ll just need to be patient here and try not to give anyone names! Since the mom has a bar gene on the Z but not W (B,-), and our male was not barred, we expected that only cockerels would be barred and would have white head spots. I guess it’s hard to predict though when the roo is mixed like this. We will wait and see what sex they declare themselves to be...
