What is the story on using Cedar to build a coop I have read that cedar is toxic to chickens Are there only certain types of cedar you can use The coops in the ad were made of Red Cedar

Ive only heard that Cedar shavings will cause a problem due to the waste but this is for any animal not only chickens. In most part I believe that they have stopped making cedar shavings due to this. As far as cedar walls I have no idea would not have it on the floors. And make sure it's not a red cedar stain. Good luck funding your answer.

Cedar shavings can cause a respiratory problems but you are ok with a cedar coop. Cedar is actually a great wood since it is so strong, lightweight, and very slow to rot. We use cedar as our choice for fence posts and gate building.
