I know I can't use cedar shavings with newborn chicks but can I use it with my older chicks {talking 7 to 9 weeks old} Have a friend with saw mill and workshop and would help us both out if I could. But if not ok, I wouldn't do anything to harm my babies

I get my shavings from a local mill and have not had any problems at all with it. It really keeps the bugs down and smells great!!! I also occasionally put cedar branches in the coop to repel flies and mosquitos. I've heard that its toxic, blah blah, but like I said, I've never had any problems. They love to roll around in it and get the bugs off.
