We love our four-month-old chickens but cannot keep them. The rooster crows too much for our neighbors. Originally, we were the quarantine site for our birds before they went to the farm where my children would care for them but the farm cannot take them.
One of the roosters died of Marek's disease. A necropsy confirmed this. The other chickens appear to be healthy and are laying but the birds have definitely been exposed. The chickens are two copper marans (hens) and a trio of blue splash marans. They won't run to you when they see you coming, but they are tame and will let you pick them up and like to be talked to.
We Do Not want these guys to go to "freezer camp." If possible, the kids would like to visit the chickens a couple of times to make sure they're happy in their new home.
Thanks!
