Ceramic vs red bulb for chicks

Which do you prefer? I don’t like the red light being on all the time, because it seems like it would bother the chicks at night. Do the ceramic ones provide enough heat though? I’m intrigued by the heating pad idea, but it looks intimidating to build the structure and I’m worried I’d mess it up.

I’ve always used a 250 watt infrared bulb, I don’t see how it would bother the chicks at night.

I'm a Brinsea ecoglow fan! They're expensive, but the chicks love it and I've had no problems with it.

I use red bulb. It does not bother the chicks. The red light is more calming.

It bothers *me.* I need to remind myself that chickens aren’t people and have very different needs haha.

Ooh, that’s so neat! That’s exactly what I wanted. So expensive though, so will have to think about it.
