Is it possible for chain link squares that are 1.5 in. to strangle ducks? As in medium sized ducks. Because ive seen people use dog kennels for their ducks, but do they ever get their heads stuck in them?
Thx.

I used to have a chain link fence, not sure of the size though, and the ducks never had any problems. If they got their heads through one way- they got them back the other again as I never saw one of mine stuck. I guess it really depends on if the grass really is greened on the other side of the fence and why they would be sticking their heads through the chainlink in the first place.

I've not had a problem with ducks getting their heads stuck, but have had trouble with raccoons grabbing the ducks through the links. I covered mine with hardware cloth to keep predators out.

yes, had my ducks in a chainlink dog kennel with a doghouse inside. The kennel has the sides and top overwrapped with chicken wire, and there's a roof over the whole thing with a small gap between the roof and the upper frame edge of the kennel. Something grabbed one of the hens by the neck causing some nasty injuries. I rewrapped the end they used to sleep by with hardware wire and removed all the hay from the edge area of the kennel so they wouldn't be sleeping right against the links. Somehow something got in and killed my buff Saxony (of course it's always the sweetest one something happens to --

) while she was sleeping inside the doghouse. Until I can afford to the the ENTIRE kennel (including the dirt floor) and top with hardware mesh, the ducks are sleeping inside the chickenhouse with the chickens. So far they seem to be loving it! The chickens are a bit put out, but they'll be ok.
