I need to move my chickens run and am wondering if anyone has used a chainlink dog kennel as a coop. I plan on putting a roof over it and partially enclosing it. It would just be for the summer until we build a new one this fall. Any thoughts?

Coons climb chain link fence quite well, been trying to kill one for a week now. He can clear the fence before I can aim. They can also reach through and snatch things inside. Your chicks will roost near the edge, with in easy reach. The dog pen would make a great run, but I don't think it would work for a coop without a lot of work. jmho

The kennel would definately have a roof over it and very buttoned up. I've had my run in with predators. I kept my ducks in the kennel before and it saved their lives from a marauding black bear (which ate my replacement pullets after a dog wiped out my flock). No coons in alaska.
