I have two hens in my backyard. I have an A-frame coop and they free-range, only in the coop to lay eggs and sleep. They have always been good buddies.

For the past 3 days, the Australorp stays in the coop, in the nesting box. I was thinking maybe she's broody. She doesn't mind me taking eggs, though. Twice I picked her up and put her outside (she was fine with that, and I was worried about her not drinking or eating), but here's the weird part.... the other chicken (Easter egger) totally went after her!!! She's never been aggressive, and they've never fought. But it was like the EE was mad she was out -- pecking and mean. So then I started wondering if the Australorp was staying in the coop to stay away from the EE?

Anyone have any ideas for me????

OK, spent a little more time with them. It looks like the Australorp might have a pale comb and wattle. Does this mean she's sick? And if so, would the other chicken peck her because she's sick?
