changed location of nest boxes.

i have a pullet that just came in to lay.i changed the location of the nest boxes on mon.she is squaking and running around like crazy.she has not laid for two days.my fear is she will become egg bound.because she refuses to lay in the new nest .any imput would be helpful.

She shouldn't become eggbound b/c you moved the nest. She's just beginning to lay, however, and that can be stressful.

Sometimes they appear frustrated and confused when first trying to lay.

Keeping things stable helps them out. (But I know we can't always do that!)

If you can, I'd gently place her in the box on top of a wooden egg.

I doubt she's egg bound. You would know if she was. She would be walking funny & real lethargic. Pullets that just start laying can lay an egg or two & then stop for a few days. That's normal. She will catch on & her egg making ability's will kick in & she will get better as time goes on. Even once they get the hang of it. They still take some time off here & there.

i have tried that several times.this is what i have.we started out with a small coop.for the three hens we aquired last spring.then this spring we raised ten peeps.but out of the ten i ended up with four pullets.and rehomed the six roosters.so my dh built a larger coop on the opposite end of the run.so the hens roost in the small coop and the pullets roost in theirs.they share a run that is 30ft long and 10ftwide.i had two of my pullets come into lay.one of the pullets did not have a problem at all with the change.i even trid to make the coop darker.i know its stressful for them.but also for the onwers to.
