Changing Feed Brand is not going well

I have 4 11month old Hens that I recently changed their feed. I was feeding Chick starter with Oyster shells and then switched to a non GMO Layer crumble. They waste more food than they eat. Most of the food is thrown to the floor of the run. I have tested by filling two feeders and placed at each end of the run and the new food always gets emptied and spread about. I have even tried to move feeders and they don't seem to like the new food. Any ideas?

for the best feed conversion (less waste) pelleted feed is what you want to use.

As hinted above it might be the consistency of the food, if the birds can see and pick out what they like from ground or whole grain consistency foods they will do that, mashes and especially pellets force them to eat the entire mix at once and thus produces less waste...
