At what age do you remove the self feeder from the coop and begin to hand feed? And how much, how often do you feed the little darlings? Or, do you leave the self feeder in and just feed treats, etc sporadically? M.y girls were hatched May 27. Not laying yet.

You should always give them a ration or a feed mix, make it available all day, I feed a cracked corn, whole corn, sunflower seed mix as scratch twice a day, tossing it on the ground, they scratch and peck at it, I do it late morning, and late afternoon, as well as giving any leftovers or food scraps as I have them. After they are laying I add oyster shells in a separate bowl, and there's always grit available.
