In the Brooder
Hi All,
I currently have 8 week old Silkies that have been getting Payback Medicated Chick Feed (20% protein) since I got them. It does say on the bag that I can feed this from hatch all the way up to 18 weeks... but I've read other people's comments that say to only feed the medicated stuff for the first 6-8 weeks (?) and then switch to an all-flock or layer feed???
I guess my thought was that since Silkies are slower to develop than other breeds, is it better to keep them on medicated stuff for a longer duration? Or should I switch to something else now?
Also I do have a few other regular hen breeds, but they are only 4 weeks, so will stay on the medicated feed for a few more weeks, but eventually I will need everyone on the same feed...
Thanks in advance!
