changing to layer feed

My red sex links are about 14-15 weeks old. They are not laying and I understand it will be another 3-4 weeks before they do. Now it is time for me to buy some more feed. Would it be ok to switch over to layer feed now? What harm could it do? Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

How many chickens do you have? If you have them on grower for the next 5 weeks or so it would be better nutritionally for them. If you only have a few hens then maybe a 25lb bag instead of a 50lb. I know that switching to layer feed will not kill them but it is best for them to keep getting the higher protein in the grower. I like to switch once a few have started laying.

The choice is yours. But the above states what I would do.
