Hello, I beginning my research to change our town ordinance here in Green Brook NJ such that we are allowed to have chickens. After talking to the town, I am told we are not allowed to own chickens since they are livestock. I have been reading this site and got lots of tips for how to proceed in my efforts to change the ordinance and get a small number of chickens.

If you live in Green Brook NJ or some adjoining town, I would love to hear from you for advice or to join my efforts here. Thanks for advice or help in advance. -Greg

Hi,

We are looking at getting a couple chickens too. A friend had a chicken for a number of years until a fox got it.
The Township website has been down so I could not validate the ordinance. It may have something to do with one bad
so called chicken farm in town a couple of years ago. Google green brook, nj chicken for a video the health inspector made and posted on you tube.

Wow. That video is pretty amazing. Do you know if this "Bird Farm" is still there? I am going to have to drive over and take a look. I think I can spot it on the satellite images.

Does your friend who lost the chicken to the fox live in Green Brook as well? Maybe we can all work together when we are ready to go down to the town. Let me know what you think. Although I am kind of suspicious that if the town is knowing allowing the birds in the video to remain, we might be able to proceed regardless. Thanks!

Did you ever have any luck with the ordinance issue? We want chickens also in Green Brook. We know a bunch of homes, not farms, in Warren with them, I believe they're allowed 6.
