I have 4 chicks that are 7 weeks old and just went outside in their pen this week. I have a 3 gallon water dispenser and am wondering how often I should change the water.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

It's best to change the water once it gets filled with junk or changes to a dirty color. And always refill it once it has been emptied.

Good luck with your flock! Glad you joined this community!

X2 on Mountain Peeps advise. It's also best not to let the water get more than 3-4 days old as it will get stale.

Enjoy your flock!!

I would change often if you see any change of color or algae in the bottle. Actually while they are small and few(4), I would probably use a smaller waterer and change it every day. I know I prefer fresh water and I think birds and pets do too.
