So then i saw ohiofarmgirl's add for her Muscovies and i knew i had to have some so i did what any reasonable person would do i cleaned the house for $10 and my mom and me went to get them today! They are the cutest things ever. They do run away a little bit but they're warming up to me and when i pick them up they are so calm!

Awww...I am so glad you were able to get them, and that you did get two. Did she tell you if they are male or female? They both look like they may be male, due to the early caruncles growing on their faces.

Ok, fun duck treats that will make them LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you!

1. Frozen peas (thawed out so they won't be too hard). Put them in their water. Mine go nuts over them.

2. Other frozen veggies, such as mixed veggies. Same as above. Thaw them out.

3. Raw spinach, like you get at the super market. I get mine at Publix and it is in a bag, like salad. I break it into smaller pieces. My littles (baby muscovies) gobble it up like crazy.

4. Coi food (for the big gold fish). I buy mine at Ace Hardware. It comes in two sizes, so I have been buying the smaller size for the littles. This floats, too, so it's fun to put in the water and watch them go after it. They go absolute NUTS over coi food. I think I could make mine do tricks for that stuff! LOL

Ok, that is my ducks favorite food. They also like yummy green grass, bugs, etc. My littles were actually afraid of strawberries and grapes! LOL I even smushed them up, but they didn't want any of it. They didn't like banana either. Or peaches, come to think of it. Hmmmm....just try different things. You will eventually find something they go nuts for, then you will be their best friend, and they will come running to see you when you have it.

Have fun with them!!

Hey, the above may work for your mallards too, and they may decide they like you after all! LOL

LOL!! Yeah, I remember when I had my orphan duck last year (Charlie). His feet were HUGE, compared to his little body. He always looked out of proportion. Now I have 5 littles, and I can't tell a difference in any of their feet. They are all close in age, within two days, but the three I got at 1 week old, are HUGE, compared to the orphans I just got a few days ago, that are about 3 1/2 weeks old. Another words, they were out in the "wild" alot longer than my first three. I put the first three on gamebird starter and they grew pretty quick. They are on chick starter now. I didn't want to overgrow them! LOL. They look like T-rexes compared to the two new babies. Both sets of babies came up with the hens within two days of each other, so I know they are almost the same age. It is just a big size difference, based on their feed, I think.

Anyway, with the first three, I am hoping they are all hens. THe feet don't look over sized, and none are different from the other. All three ducklings are the same size, etc. With the other two, when I got them, the chocolate one was a bit longer than the chocolate and yellow one, but now they are both the same size. The little one caught up quick. Neither of them have overly large feet either. Maybe, just maybe, I will be very lucky and have all five be hens. I sure hope so. I have two full-grown Muscovy drakes that are really wanting some hens. So, if these five are hens, then that would be wonderful! LOL

The other four ducks that I have are Jumbo Pekin/Swedish mix. Three hens and one drake, so they are their own little happy family. Now I just need some scovy hens.

Have fun with your babies. They are beautiful!!

Thanks Kathy my mallards and Scovies don't mix and mingle with each other, one pair's in the front and the other pair's in the back. If one pair moves the the front the other pair takes off to the back. LOL! They're the funniest things.
