Chemical or soapy-tasting meat?

Right, a combination of all the new plastic-y smells.
It makes me think of the time we were at a family cabin, and the bacon was awful tasting...When we shot the pan with water, it foamed/sudded...Whoever had stayed there last didn't clean the pan well and we basically fried our bacon in dawn.
 
And I'd bet a few people use city water. If the cooler was new and the hose was new...That's the obvious answer.

Municipal water treated with chlorine or chloramine could also have had a part,
especially if they just treated. Usually you can ask them as they will give you dates of treatment and amounts, sometimes they use more than others and there is a threshold on having to notify.
