Chemical or soapy-tasting meat?

Right, a combination of all the new plastic-y smells.

It makes me think of the time we were at a family cabin, and the bacon was awful tasting...When we shot the pan with water, it foamed/sudded...Whoever had stayed there last didn't clean the pan well and we basically fried our bacon in dawn.

I would blame it on the hose. Gives me pause to think about my birds being watered from a hose. But, I don't have much option to change that.

You can get potable water hoses. Used for campers, etc.

And I'd bet a few people use city water. If the cooler was new and the hose was new...That's the obvious answer.

My thoughts exactly.

Municipal water treated with chlorine or chloramine could also have had a part,
especially if they just treated. Usually you can ask them as they will give you dates of treatment and amounts, sometimes they use more than others and there is a threshold on having to notify.
