Chemicals leaching from plastic?

Does anyone worry about possible contamination from chemicals in plastic totes or garbage cans that are used to store chicken feed? I use a couple of totes I got at Walmart, but I was thinking perhaps "food safe" containers might be a better choice. After all, what the girls eat, we eat through their very tasty eggs! Thoughts? Thanks!

Welcome! My chicken food is all in metal garbage cans out in the coop. Rodents won't have any trouble chewing through plastic, food grade or not. Mary

I wouldn't worry about leaching into dry food.
I use plastic storage bins because it gets so hot and humid here that the galvanized can sweat and mold the feed.
I've never had a problem with rodents. This is what I use.
