I am using a 5 tier GQF Battery brooder, one tier has 35 chics (25 RIR and 10 TSC specials), one has 14 BBB turkeys (started with 16, lost one late day 1 and today, just got lethargic and passed. I tried giving water and put them in a empty tear with feed and water easy to get to, but no luck). One has 10 Peking and 9 Cayuga duckings (1 Cayuga passed today) and one has 10 goslings (Toulouse) ((also has a brooder extension as well as my bottom brooder, for larger bird grow off)). Everything is set right, temp is spot on (all birds are happy), food and water is there and water is automatic, and it is located in a climate regulated barn, with AC and heat so it will not get hotter than 80.
What should I expect as a standard mortality rate? I have used a single brooder and grow offs before, but I really want to try to plan space and flock size down the road. I am also incubating a lot of quail, and would like to eventually get into a hobby business of selling quail and birds down the road locally.
