Hey yall just startn to raise our own chics that we just hatched. What a cool thing this is . My question is that some of the chics have pretty long tail feathers while others dont have any. Would those ones be roos or is it the type of chic. Also our chics are mixed breed. The roo was a leg horn(r.i.p.)Any info would be great thanks:)

I'll be interested in these comments. Mine are two weeks old. The breeds that are supposed to be all pullets all have tail feathers (Delaware and Australorp). Of the ones that are straight run, half do and half don't.(Sussex and Orpington). All from Cackle Hatchery.

how old are they? they could be roos, but it kinda depends on the age. but as well, it could just be the breed.

lol the tail feathers start poping up about this time :] lol i have 5 bantams, and i think they're between 1 and 2 weeks old, and their tail feathers are already starting to get really long tail feathers :]

thanks alot 4 of the18 are part bantam and those r the ones in question.
