Hello all, I’m in Gillingham Kent, have enjoyed keeping chickens with out problems until the other day when I think one of my girlies had gapeworm, Well that was my diagnosis as symptoms fitted, tried to get Flubervet immediately to no avail, she passed, the Heygates with Flubervet came Too late for her but hopefully will treat my others in case. My question is mine are used to mash not pellets the feed with Flubervet is pellets can I mix with water to encourage them to eat or will I have to break up into a mash form as has to be fed for 7 days

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I am sorry for your loss. :hugs Gape worm is often confused with a respiratory ailment as they gasp either way. Gape worm is not as common as respiratory disease. If you aren't sure what a bird has passed on from, it is suggested to have a necropsy done on them.

To answer your question, yes add some water to moisten the pellets they will break down and be more enticing to the birds.

Good luck and welcome to our community! :)

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I would just add the water too. I have tried to use a food processor on pellets to make them into crumbles and it did not do a very good job. And that was a Viking Food Processor, pretty powerful. I think water is the solution.
