Our first chick hatched today right in front of Jill! She was so excited! What a neat experience for her. He took 11 hours from pipping to hatch. Two more have pipped today; both Jill and I are sleeping near the incubator tonight!

Our little guy/girl is yellow with black feathers on the top of his head and the tips of his wings. He is not yet dry. We know there were various breeds on the organic farm we bought eggs from. He's probably a mix. Will post photos tomorrow when he's dried and my camera cooperates! Thanks to everyone who has been helpful on this board!

Night, night! Ann

We now have three little peeps. Another little yellow without black born in the night. And then two Araucan eggs pipped and hatched - one in the night, one in front of our eyes this morning. They are both black and white chicks with black feet. We think they are a combination of Black Australorps and Araucana. They are vigorous little birds. Four more eggs have pipped.

And forget not turning the eggs - the chicks bonk into them a lot - they don't completely turn over, but they do get moved around.

Oh, and I have one that pipped yesterday at 2 p.m. and still has not broken through. It's moving around. How long is too long? Ann

Pictures tonight!
