I have a sick chick! She's about 16 days old and is listless... she can get to her feet and move around a bit but she doesn't, much. We were able to get about a teaspoon and a half of water with sugar and electrolytes into her with a drinking straw. She perked up a bit while we were doing that. She didn't show any interest in the chick feed. I'm letting her rest right now. Going to try to feed her a bit more in a while. I read somewhere yogurt can help keep their strength up when they refuse solids, so I will try that. Any other ideas welcome.

Hope your little one is doing better. Sometimes they just fail to thrive and we never know why.

I'm sorry your little one isn't doing well. You might try a little plain yogurt/chick food/boiled egg slurry. When I've had weak ones, sometimes that will help them perk up. Also might try Poly-Vi-Sol (WITHOUT IRON), they are liquid baby vitamins you can find at any drug store/Walmart/etc for about $7-10, try giving her a couple drops a day for a couple days, I've had that help as well. Good luck!

A few minutes ago the chick we have been nursing was behaving normally. Strolling around her segregate brooder, reacting normally and energetically to stimuli... generally seeming just fine. We are going to keep her apart at least overnight so we can be sure she is strong before we return her to the fray, but it looks like we may be in the clear. Thanks for your encouragement and advice!

I will give her an egg to get her energy up before I return her. Thanks!
