Can anyone help, we have a chick (approx 8 weeks old) thats continuously wobbling and when she walks has bad balance causing her to fall over a lot. She is eating normally and joining in with the other chicks in foraging around but just having a tough time staying upright and continuously shaking. It started about 3 - 4 weeks ago. We brought her inside for a while but there was no change. Any ideas? We have had plenty chickens / chicks previously but never seen this before!

What exactly are you feeding it?
Did you hatch it or buy it?

We're feeding it special chick feed plus it's free to forage along with the other chicks the same age in a limited area. We brought it at 2 days old, along with 4 others who are all fine.

It's the only one like it so I'm thinking it must be an illness but just don't know what....or if there is any treatment.

Hopefully, it is just something limited to that chick. Time will tell. Try the NutriDrench orally (1/2 ml) for a few days. Many people recommend using human vitamin E 400 IU and B complex 1/4-1/2 tablet daily for neurological symptoms. There is a disease called avian encephalomyelitis (AE) and also called epidemic tremors which can show up in the first month causing tremors and loss of balance. Chicks may end up on their side. But if you bought hatchery or feed store chicks, that probably would be rare. Here is some reading about it, but I would not worry about that at this point:

Hopefully vitamin supplementation will help, but possibly it suffered a blow to the head causing neurological damage. Good luck.
