Hi! Finally! Success! An egg about to hatch, - just the one. I have a very broody hen and want chick to go under her. However, must broody come inside? She has a coop set up away from flock which she is happy in. I’m hoping she can raise it in there but will it be warm enough under her? I am assuming so?! As nature intended?!

Temps at night here around min 7 Celsius but averaging 10 Celsius later this week when she’d be going out.

How long has she been broody?

If she's got her own space where she can move about with the chick showing it how to eat/drink and she has protection from predators and the elements.
The coop/run is where the chick can't get through wire without the broody.
Give it a try.
She may accept the chick or reject it. You just never know how a broody will react. Just hang out and see how it goes.

The hen is plenty warm enough to keep the chick warm, just provide her with nesting material so she's not on the cool ground when sitting.
