Chick Backside Question

My 3 week old chick's bottom is looking a bit odd. The vent seems ok and she is poop'ing.

I am worried her feathers are thinning out near her vent. Maybe another chick is picking at her - not sure.

Any ideas?

I have no idea about the chick, I wouldn't be too worried if the chick is acting fine. Hopefully someone with more chick experience will chime in.

i brought my belgin antwerp home today (she is probably 4 days old) and noticed she is pruning a lot at her tail feathers like she may have mites...maybe it is just 'pruning'...? her feathers aren't even feathers yet but fluffy down. (which makes me wonder if it really is just "pruning" )her fluff looks a little wet like your pic but she doesn't have diarhea...she seems like she is itchy...anyone have any ideas why she is so "itchy"

Thanks for the reassurances with the baby chick. I hadn't really considered that she might just be pruning herself and getting ready for her feathers.

Maybe I need to stop treating them like Lenney in Of Mice and Men and just let 'em be, huh?
