hi all,

i made the mistake of leaving some of my 2 month old chicks in a coop full of adult chickens, i opened up the coop this afternoon to find one on the brink of death, it's head and neck is swollen up, it's back feathers are missing, it won't stand or open it's eyes but it is a bit responsive, it moves its wings and legs from time to time and surprisingly, it's still breathing and it's heartbeat is strong. will it survive? what can i do to help?

edit: just checked the chick again and i think i can see a bone? theres a large wound on the chick's neck but there's no blood.

edit 2: unfortunately it did pass just now, it started convulsing and spazzing around randomly then died, i think it had a broken neck.

I'm sorry for your loss.
Once your chicks are about the same size as your other birds, it would be best to cage the newbies close to the existing flock so the older birds can get used to seeing them. Then in time, you can put them together.
Even then, it would be best to put the newbies inside the coop at night where the others cant distinguish them as new members to the flock. Then the transition will go easier for you and your flock.
