Chick bloodied from hen

Help! Our new chicks were recently introduced (slowly) to the flock. Things seemed to be going fine until this morning, I found the smallest bleeding badly and her back bare of feathers. I brought her in and rinsed the wound with warm water and then hydrogen peroxide. I heard I can use cornstarch or flour to help stop the bleeding. Is this true?? What about neosporin? Please help! Thanks

I don't have any answers to this, but did want to post so that I could follow this thread in case I have anything similar happen when I integrate my two flocks in the next couple of months.

I have heard of the flour/cornstarch method being used when you cut nails back too short on animals...not sure if I'd do that with a large area, but I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with. Good luck!

I am not a pro on chickens but on most small woulds I use alum to stop the bleeding. I wish I could offer more help but that is pretty much the end of my knowledge here.

I would use flour because it sucks up the blood and dries it quickly, making a "quick scab".Then I'd give it a few days then wash the flour out and rub (VERY thinly) some neosporin on the cuts. I'd try to avoid thick things with skin on chickens because it can irritate the chicken's skin. I wish you the best!
