Hi all, I have a brood that’s about 2 weeks old right now. One single chick was born with bald spots on its back. They have not improved, not gotten worse. It’s unsettling to see and I’m worried what could possibly be the underlying cause?

There is no heat lamp, only brood plates. No lice, no mites. They’re on vitamins. It is not feather picking, she came out this way. She’s so damn fast I can’t get a good pic but you can kind of see it here. The little black one.

Any experience with this?

We had a chick hatch last year missing feathers on her face. I think they were somehow stuck to the egg when she hatched. They took a while to fill in, but eventually they did 🙂 View attachment 3417272View attachment 3417273
I read on google that this could be a possibility! That the feathers pull out when they’re trying to get out of the shell. Thank you for sharing your experience I hope that’s what’s going on, which does line up and make sense. Also, beautiful hen!
