I'm considering making this incubator, I already have one but what the heck. So I was wondering does anyone still use one of these? Is there anything you would do differently?

I have 2 I use one large one with a fan for incubating and one like hers without a fan I use for hatching.
I like em just fine, egg turner would be nice (im not mechanicaly inclined so making one was a no go).
But I did build the incubators myself so im learning only blew 2 fuses till I got the wiring right.

O good! What kind of hatch rate do you have with them if you don't mind me asking? And congrats on building it yourself. I'm going to give it a try too, but I was just wondering if there were any issues before I attempted this.

I made one very similar to that one, only difference is fixture for the bulb. I use it as may hatcher, but did put vent holes that are plugged in case of need. the cooler is so air tight that when the first egg pips and hatches the Humidity spikes up to 70% and condenses on the glass viewing port making it hard to see what is going on. I am reluctant to use the vent holes because of the chance of shrink wrapping. ( they also make holes for the cats to unplug and try to "play with the chicks)

Ours is based on hers. We use a 40W bulb though and followed rebelcowboys videos on the thermostast. (with the thermostat flipped so its back faces the light bulb and is only about an inch or so from the bulb). On our first incubation, the homemade-bator did better than the Brinsea Mini Advance. We have 9 eggs in the homemade-bator now, due to hatch in 2 weeks. Can't wait!
