Hi I am starting this thread for miscellaneous chicken topics and etc. I got the first one
We have a Powder Blue Guinea, about 4 months old and fully fledged and grown. No idea the sex on her ( we call it Nancy) but is this a clue of female behaviour? Her best bud is a Australorp Pullet Harriet ( for those reading between the lines, she is Harriet Oleson and Nancy Oleson from little house on the prairie TV series LOL) So they play together, and play fight how chickens do, and Nancy will crouch down below Harriet, making a high pitched squeak and creep under her. Is this a mating act, or courtship? Weird since I've never had guineas before.

Howdy! Sounds like Nancy is Might be a male guinea but i'm not entirely sure as we are very new to guineas ourselves But we do have a male guinea who does that to one of our females.. Have you ever heard Nancy make the "Buckwheat" call? If you have then shes a for-sure female!

This is a link to a video with a guinea saying 'buckwheat'

My computer is so pathetic I can't look at the link, at least not now, but is the buckwheat call a loud grating EH EH EH EH EH EH EH EH! noise?
