My first two RIR chicks have hatched (7 more on their way), but they look very different from each other. Have I been ripped off with crosses or is it related to sex linkage??

No rip off. You see various shades of red. They will not necessarily all be perfectly same color of red. I have two Golden Buffs and one is shade lighter. All normal.

Wait I misread the first post! I thought you were asking about sex linked chickens, as for RIRs I’m no expert, just keep watch as they grow!! :D

Okay thank you everyone, my mind is at rest now. I’ve never raised any “red” breeds or hybrids before so this is new to me. Thank you again :)

.

The RIR is a standard breed from US and you will love the pretty brown eggs they give you. They lay about 5plus large to xlarge eggs per week. Better figure out what your going to do with all those eggs Have fun! Too cute!
