Chick crumbles not ok for adult chickens?

Which probably means an awful lot of soy, in order to get a certain level of affordable plant protein.
Theres not a whole lot of soy in the organic feed I give my chickens. Its 100% plant based with some additives to make it balanced.
And some people with medical issues with soy can be affected.
Is it GMO (poisoned) soy where you refer to? Eating soy directly or eating eggs from chickens who get GMO soy?
Fyi: In my country GMO soy its not allowed directly in the human food chain. GMO soy and corn are allowed in regular animal feed (bc they don’t need to live long lives anyway).

While then, as mentioned before, those who wish to follow a strict vegetarian diet might not want feed any type of animal protein (ignoring any concerns about BSE.)*
Many vegetarians don’t mind if their pets eat (some) meat. Vegetarian is not the same as vegan. Vegetarians do eat animal protein (milk products, eggs).

I did refer to the mad cow disease.

Yes, I was just saying that some people are uncomfortable with the idea of animal protein in their chicken feed for a variety of personal reasons. Naturally, this would not be an issue for vegans, as they wouldn’t be eating eggs anyway.

Wanting or needing to avoid soy in human diet is not strictly an issue of GMO or non-GMO. It can even be a dietary intolerance or outright allergy. Example: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/11320-soy-allergy

It can be tough for those wanting or needing to avoid dietary soy to do so these days, when soy is ubiquitous.

Well, I beg to differ. I've been feeding my flock chick starter their entire lives with free choice feeding of oyster shell on the side. The oldest hens have just turned 7 and the next oldest 6 and all are still laying. I have been feeding an average of 20% protein to my flock from day one. Forever.
That may work for hens... but it's questionable for roosters

My rooster was 7.5 years old when I lost him. I still have 3 hens from that batch doing fine. I'm not changing anything.
